International Congress on Ports in Proximity: competition, cooperation and integration’,
a joint initiative of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and ITMMA - University of Antwerp.

Ports of the world are facing changes that are increasingly global in scope. Transport, logistics and value chains are constantly evolving due to changing industrial and geopolitical patterns around the globe, creating both competition and cooperation among neighboring ports. In particular, this congress aims at identifying how proximities of different kinds - spatial, political, cultural, or economical - influence port development and strategies. It can also be argued that proximity is becoming a fundamental asset of major ports and port cities that are willing to position themselves durably in the world system.
